OSCar

The OSCar, released in 1983 by the Oxford Synthesizer Company, is a unique hybrid of analogue and digital technologies. Its digital oscillators can build waveforms through additive synthesis, feeding into an analogue multi-mode filter inspired by the Minimoog — and it sounds wonderful. It has that indefinable mojo normally reserved for vintage analogue synths.

This Kontakt library captures the OSCar in exquisite detail — 2,306 multi-sampled WAV files across 119 instruments, all looped and tuned for authentic playback. For the first time you can play the OSCar polyphonically, unlocking sounds and textures that were never possible on the original monophonic instrument.

The instruments are organised into five categories: raw mono, raw poly, processed mono, processed poly, and waveforms — giving you both faithful recreations of the original character and creatively processed variations.
